VOLUNTEER

One-Off Opportunities

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."            -Winston Churchill

Winter Festival
TBD

A wonderful Havens family tradition, our Winter Festival is all about giving. Join us for holiday community service activities, winter arts & crafts, self-serving wrapping station and a drop off site for gifts being donated to our Holiday Giving Program. Please volunteer to help prepare for the event, to help manage an activity station or to roll your sleeves up and make sure everything is neat & tidy at the end of the evening. We will also need volunteers to drive CAR LOADS of gifts to the Jewish Family and Community Service center on TBD.

Spring Fling Annual Fundraiser

Spring Fling is an annual celebration of Piedmont's three elementary schools that brings together our entire community in support of our children's education. Spring Fling is one of Piedmont Education Foundation's largest fundraisers and the money raised goes directly to the schools. We know how important it is to educate the whole child and since state funding alone cannot do that, we band together to ensure that all Piedmont students continue to have strong programs in science, technology, math, music, visual art, library, social-emotional learning, and more.

In order for Spring Fling to be a true success, we need 100% participation from parents. Please be on the lookout for the many opportunities during the year to give time, talent, and/or treasure by volunteering, donating/purchasing auction items, and simply by attending the spring gala. We hope you will consider ways in which you can contribute to our amazing community. Contact Havens Spring Fling Liaisons, Shannon Mitchell and Morgan Brasfield for more info at havensfundraising@gmail.com.

Campus Care

Please join us for a Campus Clean-Up!  Next Campus Clean-Up is TBD.

We will collect garbage, weed, rake and tidy up the garden beds and the black-top area.

Please bring your own gardening gloves and clippers.

Look forward to seeing you then!

Emergency Readiness

TBD

Every year Havens students and staff participate in the annual, statewide Great ShakeOut event to help improve our emergency readiness. Parent volunteers are asked to simulate a real-life emergency situation in which they will need to follow PUSD Student Emergency Release Protocols and Procedures in order to collect their child/ren in the event of an unforeseen emergency. Volunteer numbers are limited due to the management of the drill. Pleased contact Vanessa Oklejas at voklejas@gmail.com if you are able to help.

Health & Wellness

TBD

The health and wellness of our students is paramount. By volunteering to help our district nurses and our Health & Wellness Chair, Tara Dietrick, you are helping ensure the highest wellness standards available for our children. Havens holds annual vision and hearing tests and needs volunteers to help usher students from classes to the examinations and then to manage the flow of children from one exam room to another. All health exams are done on site.
