Message from Havens Parents Club Co-Presidents

Our first Friday School Spirit Day is this week! Students are encouraged to wear Havens gear or the color purple on Fridays going forward. Yay Havens!

We’d also like to recognize all of our student readers that participated in the Read-a-Thon. In total, we had 67 participants read 76,140 pages and together they raised over $12,000! Well done and thank you, readers! Also big thanks to adult readers Amy Gurvitz and Erin Schultz for organizing the event and blowing past their fundraising goal!

Many of our lunch subscribers are aware that Choice Lunch had a refrigeration issue yesterday that resulted in an emergency pizza order for those that ordered a hot entree. A huge thank you to Amy Lee, Anne Dolid, Kristen Huey, Melanie Reed, and Mike Wong for having all hands on deck and working through those lunch logistics and thank you to the parents and students impacted for your flexibility and understanding.

Anecdotally, we want to share that in the event you need a PCR test for your student, Test the People’s North Oakland location has been getting great reviews from our parent community for their availability of appointments and 12-hour turnaround time on results. They have an appointment-based streamlined drive-through process, and also accept walk-ins. We’ve also heard that if you book an appointment and fill out all the information in advance, it can potentially be possible to show up before your appointment time and still get tested.

Stay safe and healthy, and please reach out to us with any questions, thoughts, and ideas.

Thank you, Havens!
