Hello Havens Parent Community!
We are April and Val - this year’s Havens Parents Club Co-Presidents - and we are so looking forward to welcoming your families on campus at Havens next week!
The Havens Parent Club (HPC) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization and is the essential liaison between the school and parent community. We are a fun and inclusive group of parents who are committed to making the school experience as rewarding as possible for your whole family. We organize parent volunteers, provide essential student services and raise funds to support and enhance our children's educational experience. Here is this year’s board slate to date.
We generally communicate primarily through these Wednesday Havens Highlights as that is the most equitable way to reach all of our parent community, and makes it convenient to look back through your Google Drive for archived content. We also host many events throughout the year to bring our community together, and at the start of the school year, designated room parents will begin reaching out with weekly communication on your classroom-specific news as well as community engagement opportunities, including providing optional parent class sign-up sheets to share contact information for those that choose to participate to help in planning playdates, etc.
It takes an involved parent community to make HPC hum! Please visit The Piedmont Store as Part 2 of the Infinite Campus registration process, and join as an HPC member to receive additional HPC updates, event info, and receive the contact directory for all schools, which is organized by PEF. There are also great volunteer opportunities, including how to show interest in becoming a room parent, other fun opportunities that get you on campus (like hot lunch - more below!), ways to show teacher appreciation for the year, and donations to help provide classroom supplies and support field trips as well. Finally, Let’s Celebrate!
Monday, August 9th - We welcome TK, K, and (for the first time!) first graders back on campus as detailed in the Principal’s message. Representatives will be on hand from HPC to welcome you and provide an opportunity to get the first-glimpse of our new Havens merchandise swag!
Tuesday, August 10th - All Grades Parent Back to School Coffee from 8:30am - 9:30am! Join us on campus in the breezeway in front of the main office for coffee, donuts, merchandise sales, and a much-welcomed hello in person before enjoying what we hope is a quiet rest of your day!
